Mango grove raided, 16 persons arrested including a TRS leader while playing gambling

Police seize Rs 1.93 lakhs, 15 mobile phones and nine motorcycles 

 

JAGTIAL:  Sixteen persons including a TRS leader and Rythu Bandhu Samithi district president were arrested when they were playing gambling at a mango grove on the outskirts of Gumlapur village of Korutla police station limits on Monday.

The police have seized Rs 1.93 lakhs cash, 15 mobile phones and nine motorcycles from the spot.

On a tip off, the police team led by Korutla Inspector Rajashekhar Raju and sub-inspectors from Korutla, Medipalli, Mallapur, Ibrahimpatnam and their teams raided the mango grove and arrested 16 persons and two other escaped from the spot. The gambling den was being organised by Mallyala Kistaiah and Jukuri Prakash.

The arrested persons include TRS leader and Rythu Bandhu samithi president Cheeti Venkat Rao, Malyala Kistaiah, Jakuri Prakash, Jalla Srinivas, Kanchi Hanumanthu, Kondala Jagadish, Kandiri Naresh, Basa Srinu, Medari Shekhar, Peddaboina Srinivas, Bejjanki Sridhar Rao, Munja Jalender, Nagulapali Jai Tirupathi Reddy, Alakunta Rambabu, Jangula Sagar and Boini Ashalu. Two others Naveen Reddy and Narsaiah escaped from the spot.

In a statement here on Tuesday, Superintendent of Police Sindhu Sharma informed the people not to spoil their career by playing gambling and ruin their families. She warned of stern action against the persons organising gambling dens and the persons caught while playing gambling. She said that they would continue the raids throughout the districts and informed the people to alert the police if they notice any suspicious gambling dens in any part of the district.
