KARIMNAGAR: The Karimnagar Commissionerate of Police have handed over a nine-month-old infant boy, who was abducted in Mumbai and rescued in Jagtial district, to the Bandra police of Maharashtra state in Karimnagar town on Friday.

Police sources said that the Karimnagar Task Force police have detected the mysterious abduction of a nine-month-old infant from Bandra police station limits in Mumbai town on Thursday. A couple, who eke out a living by begging in Mumbai had lodged a complaint with the Bandra police on Wednesday about the missing of their infant child from August 31 evening onwards. The police after tracing the CCTV footage and car belonging to Karimnagar district had informed Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana to investigate in the case.

Immediately, the CP had instructed the Task force police to detect the case with the leads provided by the Bandra police. The police launched the investigation and found that a childless couple from Buggaram village in Jagtial district had approached a dish operator and technician of the village, who had earlier worked in Mumbai, about the need for a child for adoption and was ready to pay a huge amount.

Lured by their offer, the dish operator approached his friend, who is a tailor by profession, in Mumbai and informed him about the deal. On August 31 night, the tailor calls the dish operator and informs about the availability of a male child and fixes the rate as Rs 3.15 lakh and instructs them to arrive immediately.

The dish operator informs the same to the childless couple. Immediately, they hire a car and rushes to Mumbai along with cash and collect the infant and returns back on Thursday morning. The clues provided by the Mumbai police and the local Task force had nabbed the two accused and rescued the abducted infant boy. The infant was kept under the custody of the women and child welfare department. The infant was handed over to the women police of Bandra police station by Additional DCP (admn) G Chandramohan in Karimnagar town on Friday.

Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana for the instant detection of the case and appreciated the Task force inspectors Mallaiah and Srujan Reddy. On the other hand, DGP M Mahender Reddy had also appreciated the district police for bringing reputation with the early detection of infant abduction cases in Mumbai and rescuing the boy in Buggaram in Jagtial district.
