Jagtial police ‘drive against drug’ posters and CD released

JAGTIAL: The Jagtial district police have launched a campaign called ‘drive against drug’ and accordingly released special posters and audio CD educating the people to desist from consuming, cultivation and smuggling of contraband ganja.

Superintendent of Police Ch Sindhu Sharma, Additional SP (admn) K Suresh, Jagtial town DSP R Prakash, Mallial Inspector Ramana Murthy, RI Vamana Murthy and others were also present. The SP appreciated the Mallial CI who had produced the CD and posters to educate the people about the ill-effects of ganja consumption and its cultivation.
Speaking on the occasion, the SP said that they would deal firmly against the persons indulging in the cultivation and smuggling of the ganja in the rural areas. Following the intelligence reports about the cultivation of the ganja as inter-crop along with mirchi in the interior villages, the SP said that the special police teams would be formed to raid the fields and destroy the crops as well as arrest the accused persons.
She directed the police officials to conduct coordination committees with the forest, excise and panchayat officials to crack a whip against the ganja cultivation. She also informed the police to focus and keep close surveillance on the isolated locations where the youth would be consuming the ganja.
Directing the police to identify the youth addicted to the ganja, she suggested the police to conduct a counselling sessions with the parents and discourage youth from getting addicted to the contraband. She also said that they would take severe penal action against the persons indulging in ganja cultivation and smuggling.
