Jagtial police arrest three persons involved in Kondagattu temple shrine burglary

JAGTIAL: The Jagtial district police have arrested three notorious temple burglars involved in the sensational case of burglary at the historic Sri Anjaneya Swamy devasthanam in Kondagattu in the wee hours of February 24, 2003, and recovered five kilograms of silver ornaments from their possession.

The burglars gained entry into the temple from the backside by breaking open the latch and escaped with 15 kilograms of silver ornaments of Lord Hanuman worth around Rs 9 lakhs. The Jagtial police under the leadership of Jagtial DSP R Prakash swung into action and constituted 10 special teams to nab the accused persons. The police identified accused persons in the CCTV footages at the temple and rushed to the Bidar district in Karnataka state and arrested the accused.

The arrested have been identified as Balaji Kesava Rathode (35), Narsing Jadav (23) and Vijay Kumar Rathode (25) all hailing from various villages of Bidar district. The four other accused persons were at large and the police have launched a manhunt to nab them. The accused had committed burglars in various temples in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana states.
