Five held, ganja worth Rs 8 lakhs seized in Nizamabad

NIZAMABAD: The Nizamabad Five Town police have arrested five persons and seized 44 kilograms of ganja worth Rs 8 lakhs, two autos, a motorcycle and six cellular phones from their possession in the district.

Disclosing this to newsmen here on Saturday, Additional DCP (law and order) Dr G Vineeth said that the North Rural Inspector along with 5th town police were doing regular vehicle checking at Babansaha Pahadi in Nizamabad town on Friday afternoon. They noticed autos moving in suspicious circumstances and the police apprehended them and another person on a motorcycle was piloting them. The contraband was being smuggled from Warangal to Maharashtra state via Nizamabad.
The arrested include; Osman Khan (32), Shaik Moiz (20), Shaik Siraz (31), Kadari Raju (32) and Badramaina Sudhakar (38). There was a minor person in the gang also. Commissioner of Police Karthikeya appreciated the work done by the police and rewarded them for arresting the ganja peddlers. Nizamabad ACP A Venkateshwar, North Rural CI K Gurunath, Five town SI G Shyam Sunder and others were also present.
