Electric bus stolen in Tirumala
TIRUMALA, SEPTEMBER 24, 2023: Stated to be first of its kind incident on the Tirumala hills, an electric bus operated for the devotees visiting the Tirumala temple shrine was stolen in the early hours of Sunday.
The electric bus which was kept at the charging station of the TTD by the driver on Saturday night. When the driver returned in the morning, he found the bus missing. As the bus was having GPS system, the officials traced it to Naidupeta in Tirupathi district. Apparently, the thief had left the vehicle abandoned after it ran out of charge. Following a complaint, the police registered a case and took up investigation.
Incidentally, the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams is having three-layered secured covering the Tirumala hill shrine. That too the stealing of costly electric bus when the temple is witnessing heavy pilgrims rush for the annual Brahmotsavam has exposed the security lapses in the TTD security wing. These electric buses, which were donated by the devotees, were introduced on Tirumala hills in the month of March this year.
