KARIMNAGAR: In a timely and swift action, the Karimnagar Lake police have saved a youth from committing suicide in the swirling waters of Lower Manair Dam reservoir in Karimnagar town on Saturday.
Police said that the youth identified as M Deepak Raju (24), a resident of Karimnagar town, was addicted to liquor and drugs such as ganja and always used to have rifts with his family members. Following an argument about his indecent behaviour, the family members had warned him to mend his ways and lead a normal life.
Irked over this, the youth entered into the LMD reservoir waters to commit suicide. The police patrol watched him and rushed to the spot and rescued him from the waters. Later, the SI Venkat Reddy summoned his family members and counselled him and sent him back to his house. Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana appreciated the police for rescuing the youth. With this incident, the Lake police had rescued a total of 177 persons, who reached the LMD reservoir to commit suicide.
