Burglars make a vain bid to rob Telangana Grameena Bank in Koyyur of Tadicherla mandal

JAYASHANKAR BHUPALAPALLI:  An unidentified burglar’s gang made a vain bid to rob the Telangana Grameena Bank (TGB) in Koyyur village of Malhar Rao (Tadicherla) mandal in Jayashankar-Bhupalapalli district.

Police sources said that the burglar’s gang made a vain attempt to gain entry to the grameena bank by cutting the entrance gate and windows using a gas cutter. When they were cutting the window rods, there was a leak of gas from the cylinder. Sensing the explosion, the gang had left the scene.  Though the incident seems to have taken place on Tuesday night, it came to light on Thursday when the employees attended to their duties as Wednesday was a holiday on the occasion of the Ugadi festival.

Following a complaint by the bank officials, the police teams rushed to the spot and registered a case. The CLUES team is collecting the fingerprints from the sport and gas cylinder left at the spot and the police officials were examining the CCTV footage at the bank and in the village vicinity.

It may be recalled that a robber gang had broke into the State bank of India (SBI) branch in Gunjapadugu village in Manthani mandal of Peddapalli district in the year 2021 by cutting the windows by using a welding cutting machine and opening the locker and escaped with huge cash and gold weighing over 6 kilograms.
