BRS Dubbaka candidate and MP Prabhakar Reddy stabbed during election campaign
SIDDIPET, OCTOBER 30, 2023: In a bizarre incident, Medak MP and BRS candidate from Dubbaka Kotha Prabhakar Reddy was reportedly stabbed in the stomach by unknown person in the presence of the party rank and file during his election campaign in Surampalli village of Doulathabad mandal on Monday.
Reports reaching here said that the MP sustained bleeding injuries and he was rushed to the Gajwel hospital from where he was shifted to Hyderabad for better treatment. The party rank and file caught hold of the assailant and thrashed him black and blue before handing over to the police.
The assailant was identified as Raju of Cheppyala village. The accused approached the MP with an intention to shake hand and suddenly whipped out the knife and stabbed in the stomach. The accused was working for a YouTube channel.
Governor condemns
Condemning the incident, Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has expressed shock about the attack on Medak MP and BRS Dubbaka MLA candidate and wished him speedy recovery.
“Violence has no place in democracy, and such incidents are a threat to the democratic process”, she stated in a press note and directed the Director General of Police to take stringent measures to investigate and ensure the safety of contesting candidates and campaigners during the election period.
“It is essential to maintain a peaceful and secure environment for free and fair elections”, she stated.
