Campaign on social media under watch by police

KARIMNAGAR: Buoyed over the successful drive against the distribution of liquor, money and other inducements to lure the voters, the Commissionerate of Police have focussed their attention on propaganda through social media.

In a press note here today, Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana said that they would monitor the campaign and other issues on social media. He said that they would also deal firmly against persons posting hurting social media postings by arresting and registering criminal cases as per the IT Acts. He said that the Special Branch, Task Force and Cyber Crime forensic lab authorities would constantly monitor the social media to check its misuse during the elections.

He said that they would monitor the social media postings round the clock to check any provocative and inflammatory remarks against any person or individual and create disturbances in the society. He also appealed to the people to lodge any complaints with regard to the misuse of social media to the Special branch inspector by dialling 94407-95104. He said that the police machinery was fully geared up for the smooth conduct of elections in the Huzurabad assembly segment.
